Capital Campaign

Hawthorne Lodge Renovation Project

Since Hawthorne Lodge was built in 1994, residential care has changed dramatically. The need to renovate and convert the current medical model setting into a more home-like neighbourhood has become an urgent one.

In 2013, we assembled a team experienced in the field of residential care new builds and renovations to work on ways to bring Hawthorne Lodge up to current seniors care residential care building environments.

Capital Campaign

This resulted in a cost-effective plan to renovate Hawthorne Lodge for our senior residents with chronic illnesses who require 24/7 care.

Total project cost: $4.2 million
Our investment: $3.2 million
Fundraising goal: $1.0 million
Total raised to date:
$ 702,272.

Our First Fundraising Campaign

Remarkably, Hawthorne has funded previous improvements without turning to the private sector for support.

With leadership from Mayor Greg Moore, the Campaign Chair and a committed volunteer team, we have launched Growing Our Care Capital Campaign, our first-ever capital fundraising campaign, to complete the funding required for these renovations. Learn about ways to give to the campaign.

We believe it is vital for our project to begin immediately; the need is growing and will continue to grow in the coming years as the percentage of seniors increases and the demand on families builds. There is little public funding available for renovating chronic care facilities.

Construction is underway and completion is scheduled for late summer/early fall 2017.

The Case for Care

Our Growing with Care capital campaign is driven by four urgent needs:

  1. To bring our seniors’ residential complex care building up to today’s standards.
  2. To fill the gap between public and community funding for seniors’ healthcare.
  3. To provide timely and tangible solutions in keeping with evolving demands.
  4. To continue to serve seniors and their families in the Tri-Cities area.
