Temporary Full-Time Recreation Programmer (Adult Day Program/Assisted Living): 1 Year Maternity Leave  starts ASAP

 Summary of Role Responsibilities

 Reporting to the Director, Assisted Living and Adult Day Program, and taking work direction from the Recreation Therapy Team Leader, plans and implements a range of therapeutic, recreational and educational programs to meet the needs of the clients.  The position works cooperatively and respectfully with clients, co-workers, family and volunteers.

 Qualifications

 Diploma or Degree in Recreation Service Delivery

Certificates in CPR, First Aid, Serving it Right, and  Food Safe

Valid Class 4 drivers license (unrestricted)

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Hours of Work

 Monday to Friday, 9:00-5:00 with an occasional evening or weekend shift

 Skills and Abilities

 We are looking for applicants with a passion for working with older adults. They must demonstrate the ability to use empathy, courtesy, and patience to effectively establish and maintain rapports with clients, staff, families, and volunteers.  Applicants should also have strong written and verbal communication skills, good organizational skills, and work well both independently and as a team member.

Resident Care Aides: Hawthorne Seniors Care Community is seeking casual Resident Care Aides to work as part of a team providing care to residents to enable them to achieve desired quality of life outcomes. This includes assistance with personal care functions and procedures related to the physical, spiritual and recreational needs of the resident. Service Support Workers: Hawthorne Seniors Care Community is seeking Casual Service Support Workers, to provide  housekeeping and dietary service on a casual basis for vacation & sick leave relief. Starting date ASAP.  Your daily duties will include providing support services to residents including, but not limited to; making beverages and food items such as tea, coffee and toast, ensuring that food is served in accordance with dietary requirements of the residents, perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and damp mopping floors, cleaning resident rooms, cleaning general resident areas, removing garbage as required and other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
  • Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
  • Current Workplace Hazardous Material Information’s Systems certificate.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Building Service Worker Certificate or related work experience preferred.
  • Previous Long Term or Residential Care experience preferred.
